Side Assist.

If sensors spot vehicles behind or beside your own car Side Assist can choose between different strategies. It informs or warns the driver about vehicles within the radius of the sensors. Drivers are warned optically with warning lights in wing-mirrors on the side where other vehicles are located.

Lights are on the whole time on the respective side, but are not fully illuminated. As these lights are not very bright drivers are not distracted and only see them when consciously looking at the wing-mirror. All vehicles which may be a danger when overtaking are displayed by the system, regardless if drivers flick on the indicator or not.

If drivers flick on the indicator and therefore tell the system that they are planning to change lanes, a bright warning light switches on to warn drivers. This warning is bright enough to be noticed by drivers and catches their attention.
Drivers can easily see it from the corner of their eye. Side Assist is an ideal addition to wing-mirrors and a quick glance over the shoulder.
